i am in mathematics but some of friends suggest not to choose math for optional paper.i am confused what to do

If you have got advice from your friends about ignoring Mathematics as optional subject, it is based on the performance of the candidates with Mathematics as optional subject. Limited number of candidates pick Mathematics as optional subject and the success-rate has not been that great. However, we suggest you to have a look at the syllabus and previous years' question papers to have a feel about the current trends. As you are post-graduate with Mathematics, see if with some efforts if you can reach the level that UPSC expects.
