I must apprise you that it is tough but, not impossible. It is all about how strong is the desire and what kind of efforts you plan to put in to achieve success in Civil Services Examination.

It requires planning and right strategy as you have only one chance and it could be challenging as being in job, you have paucity of time. No doubt, it is difficult to manage while in job but, with self-discipline you can definitely find ways to justify your decision.

You are lucky that this time the Preliminary Examination 2014 is scheduled little late (August 24) but, at the same time, you cannot ignore the integrated approach required to hit the target.

Leave aside all apprehensions; commence preparation with focus on Main Examination General Studies syllabus.

Begin with some basic books (NCERT Books are the best resource) and gain conceptual clarity. As you advance, the strong foundation would help in tackling the things in much easier way and you will be able to understand things in a much improved manner.

With this, your Preliminary Examination Paper 1 gets almost covered; for Paper 2, you have to rely on practice than reading content. With your past academic background, it should not pose any major problem in front of you.

Also, cultivate newspaper reading habit to build awareness and information about the contemporary developments.

Besides, looking at your academic background it would be strategic and save a lot of time if you consider keeping Commerce & Accountancy as optional subject.

Make a beginning, as you advance, you will keep on getting insights that help you prepare effectively.
