I am an B.COM student. I have been a good student through out but academic record has been average because non serious preparation for exam. But I like to work hard & Last 1 year my preparation going for IAS exam, can I able to clear this exam because I was read in upsc exam they want good academic record in"10+2+3" My parents encourage me for it. But I aspire for it seriously. Kindly guide me in this regard.

It is nice to know you have set goal for yourself. Good academic record certainly show better result trends but, Civil Services Examination is a little different from your academic studies.

Every year a lot of candidates with average acedemic record make it to Civil Services.

Focus on your goal and keep preparing seriously.

There is expectations of changes with proposed C-SAT in place of Preliminary Examination. So, the best way to start is preparing optional subjects with Mains Examination focus.

Read at least two newspapers one national daily and one regional one. Editorials and news of national & international importance should be read careful with analytical views.

For General Studies, you can start with preparing Indian Economy, Polity and Geography and later can pick other segments.

As it is said, first step is the most difficult one; so, start and you will notice your preparation gets the momentum soon and you would start enjoying the journey to Civil Services Examination.

All the best!
