Union Public Service Commission has issued a Corrigendum Notice on March 26, 2013 incorporating the modifications in the scheme of Civil Services (Main) Examination 2013 that was notified on March 5, 2013.
With this Corrigendum Notice, the scheme for Civil Services (Main ) Examination 2013 is crystal clear.
As awaited, controversial ‘English Comprehension and English Précis’ paper (100 marks) has been removed and the two qualifying papers of 300 marks each in any Modern Indian Language and English have been restored.
Other conditions relating to choosing Literature of Languages as optional subject and for option to answer papers in any language medium have been withdrawn.
There is no change in the pattern of Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination. The Preliminary Examination is scheduled to be staged on May 26, 2013 as per the schedule.

As per the modified scheme, now marks for the following 7 (Seven) papers would be counted for Merit.

Paper V | General Studies IV | 250 Marks |
Paper VI | Optional Subject Paper - 1 | 250 Marks |

Sub Total (Written Test) | 1750 Marks | |
Personality Test | 275 Marks | |
Grand Total | 2025 Marks |
Candidates aspiring for Civil Services Examination 2013 should fill application (if they have not done so by now) for Preliminary Examination 2013 through online mode only. The Commission will accept applications till 4th April, 2013 (till 11.59 PM) in the official website www.upsconline.nic.in
