It is one of the toughest examinations; but to choose the suitable candidates for Civil Services, even UPSC gives freedom to make a lot of choices here and let you design your way to Civil Services following the same.

In movie ‘Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets’ (2002), I was lured by its fantasy; but, more than that I am highly inspired by a quote “It is not our abilities that show what we truly are, it is our choices” says Dumbledore, the headmaster at Hogwarts.

In context to Civil Services Examination, this citation stands true as the choices made by the candidates ultimately determine the ultimate result.

It is one of the toughest examinations but to choose the suitable candidates for Civil Services, even UPSC gives freedom to make a lot of choices here and let you design your way to Civil Services following the same.

Yes, here, you make choice for when to take examination between the stipulated age limit.

It is up to you to decide at what education level to take examination, immediately after graduation or at higher education.

For writing examinations, you are offered a host of subjects to choose from.

Even you are at liberty to leave your own subject which you have studied till Graduation/Post-Graduation and can take a plunge with an all-to-gather new subject.

What more you can ask as you have the advantage of expressing yourself in the language of your own; if you desire so.

While applying, you have to make choice for the services you opt for. Which service one gets, is of course, depends on your overall performance in the examination.

Move a step further and you find that there are no prescribed books from UPSC and what, how much and from where you have to read, it is you to make the ultimate choice.

When you get so much of liberty to make choices, it is you who has to support all the decisions and come out with flying colours.
