Future trends and outlook on coaching: is it must for Civil Services Examination?

Those who need support in areas which require help would certainly be going for coaching as the candidates

Well, Coaching for Civil Services examination has never been a must.

It always depends on your requirements. Every year not all those, who figure in merit-list, join coaching institutes. With the new pattern in place, it is not that the whole lot would turn up for coaching.

It is not indispensable. But, those who need support in areas which require help would certainly be going for coaching as the candidates in past did. Rather, it is essential to reach good coaching institute who understand this examination and the requirements well.

For quite some time we have been hearing from UPSC bigwigs about cutting the role of coaching institutes and by making things complex as candidates are perceiving, will the new-look Preliminary Examination become such that the coaching will become must ? I doubt.

In my opinion, UPSC would be constantly monitoring the recent activity of some organized players eyeing opportunity in Civil Services Examination arena which is predominantly captured mainly by handful individual entities till now.

In today’s environment, where government is keen to discourage coaching institutes as it at times impacts the quality of intake, the changes promoting coaching culture in a big way is going to ruin both UPSC and the government’s efforts.
